Winning the war within (battles of character)
How time flies it’s the
second half of the year already. Since we do not have any other God we surely
pray to Him every day and even as you are about to read this section am sure
you have either prayed or you are about to pray.
One very sure item on every
prayer list is a prayer to win one battle or the other. We all have battles to
win in life I will follow the line of a particular Yoruba adage that says “if
the enemy within doesn’t destroy the enemy without will not have access to an
individual” however in this context we are not talking about the witches and
wizards in our respective families those are referred to as external to us.
There are two types of
battles in life the external and the internal battles if we are able to win
these internal battles then we are on our way to winning the final battle.
We have three types of
internal battles: battles of character, battles of the flesh, and battles of
the mind we will be concentrating on the battles of character.
A man’s character is
described as his personal perfume, your character goes way ahead of you
everywhere you go, it’s the way someone thinks, feels, and
behaves, it is also described as someone's personality : A set of qualities
that is portrayed by an individual. No matter how an individual tries to hide
his/her character its only takes time before he portrays his real character.
Examples of battles of characters are anger, laziness, procrastination, lack of
contentment, hotty spirit, talkative the list is endless but we all know what
our battles of character.
If your character is a
perfume then the question is what perfume are you wearing the question is yours
to answer but remember people around you can perceive the smell of your perfume.
This means that our character is an important aspect of our day to day lives.
So many people have lost a lot of opportunities just because of the characters
they exhibit.
