TODDLER

How did you learn to walk when you were a toddler?

By walking.

You wobbled and fumbled.

You tumbled. It hurt. You cried.

People laughed. But you didn’t care.

You didn’t know to care.

You didn’t stop walking.

The next moment. You were up again.

Walking. You fell again. You got up.

You kept on walking.

Then you started to take quick steps.

Then you got more daring.

You started to run😱

You tumbled a few times.

It was scary at first.

But you didn’t stop running.

And then it happened.

You started to climb. And to hop. And to jump.

Then you were all over the place. No one could contain you.

Simply because you kept walking.

The life of a child holds myriad lessons for us.

How do you think you will learn anything else in life?

The same way.

By doing. By not stopping.

Even when it’s hard.
Even when you fail.
Even when it hurts.
Even when they laugh.

You turn a deaf ear. You turn a blind eye.

You know it’s your destiny to walk and walk you must.

You know it’s your destiny to run and run you must.

You know it’s your destiny to climb and climb you must.

So you pick that pen and you write.

They laugh at your writing. But you don’t stop.

You keep writing.

You apply for that job you think you’re not good enough for.

You fumble a few times on the job. They scold you. They laugh at you.

But you turn a deaf ear. You turn a blind eye.

You’re here to learn, to grow, to gain know-how.

You can’t if you don’t try. So you keep learning.

You keep failing. You keep growing.

Their scorn is fuel. Their rebuke is a push.

So you do more. You give more.

And suddenly, you’re shocking yoursef.

You’re getting good at this thing. Suddenly, you’re shocking them.

“She’s getting good at this thing.”

How did you learn to drive? By driving.

You failed. Your trainer scorned you.

But you didn’t stop. You kept going.

And suddenly. You were good.😱 Because you kept driving.

What is the lesson?

Reconnect with the toddler you once were.

Ignore the shame that accompanies starting. That accompanies learning. That accompanies failing.

If you must grow, you must learn. And if you must learn, you will fail.

Failing becomes fuel to do it better next time.

Their scorn becomes fire in your belly pushing you to your desired greatness.

If the fear of falling, of failing and of being judged harshly and being laughed at is making you hide your potential.

And making you doubt yourself. Uour ability. Making you hold back.

Making you hide your potential.

Then you have not learned. From the toddler you were.

Not to care or fear what they think, say or do.

Because walk you must.

You kept on walking.

Keep on walking.

My muse: Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:2

Despise the shame

Endure the cross

Walk into the glory

Keep on walking.
